Venba has now started 'free tailoring' classes for women in Chennai. This is located in old Chennai area of Washerman pet. The Women who join the training classes for 5 days a week after their household duties are learning 'Tailoring'. In 4 months, they would be able to learn stitching and can earn a daily livelihood working from their homes. This year, we want to extend our support to a 100 children by supporting them for their education. We will do this along with VENBA, our Chennai based NGO who undertake work in areas of children education, old age home and women empowerment through Tailoring Classes.

Parisutha Illam is a home for the homeless. There are ~220 women and men who have don’t have a home and are suffering from psychiatric ailments. This is managed by three sisters/nuns who look after the home like their very own. The people in the home lead a good quality of life. Sevalaya is a registered charitable Trust with activities in villages around Thiruvallur and Kancheepuram district. They currently serve 40 villages in and around Kasuva village which once had 100% child labour. DONATE TO CAUSE OF THE WEEK
VENBA is a 5 year old NGO which is constantly widening its social work. After the free tailoring classes comes the Free Tuition Classes. The Classes are held in nice green gardens of their oldage home in Mahabalipuram, Chennai. The children are tutored to do well in the school academics besides extra curricular activities. They expect 20 children and need a modest Rs.50,000/- as annual expenses which includes buying of stationary, teaching aids, chairs and teacher's fees. You can support a child for a whole year (10 months) for Rs.2500 per year.
